When we were coming up with ideas for a series titled, "Derailed" it was a hard task not to go straight to a giant train on the stage.  So we thought making a depot would be a simple visual to take people to that place.

We wanted to have something that looked train esc without losing the functionality of the main stage as we don't have much room.  So the solution was to make the drum platform into a train.  So we built a cow-catcher for the front of the train and positioned the bass drum to look like the coal vessel and then on the back side we coupled a concrete form with an a/c duct reducer to make the smoke-stack.  Once we were done with it we decided it just made sense to go ahead and put a 20,000 cubic ft/sec pyro fogger to mimic a train at just the right time.  (only did that a couple times but in the end we were very happy with the way it turned out)  Likewise we wanted it to be next to the depot during the message to be out of the way but visible and then up front during music.  So we built a track with 2x6 ties and 1" pipe rails.  Then we attached four rail wheels and moved it as the drums began to play and back after the worship set and before the message.
